A dedicated leader with extensive experience in community service, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit development. Theresa is the driving force behind MATI-X's mission to empower youth and create sustainable food systems.

Board Members

MATI-X is dedicated to fostering leadership through mentorship, education, and practical experience in entrepreneurship. Our mission is to provide the tools and resources to underserved youth, specifically in the South Dallas area, to become successful business owners and community leaders.

Our Origin Story

  • 2018

    Concept Ignite – Food-systems strategist Theresa Tumminia launches the MATI-X concept after piloting container-based cold storage to rescue surplus produce in South Dallas.

  • 2020

    First Hub Deployed – A 40-ft insulated container goes live, protecting 20 tons of local harvests and powering weekend “pop-up” farmers markets run by neighborhood teens.

  • 2021

    MATI-X Pro Accelerator – Launch of a 12-week micro-enterprise boot camp; first cohort graduates 15 youth-led produce and value-added food startups.

  • 2023

    Tech-Enabled Cold Chain – Solar + IoT retrofits added to hubs, cutting energy costs 30 % and supplying real-time temperature data to partner farms.

  • 2024

    Impact at a Glance – 80,000 lbs of food distributed, 4,500 families served monthly, 20+ cross-sector partners, and four container hubs operating across the metroplex.
